The HP Unified Cluster Portfolio is a comprehensive, modular package of tested and pre-configured hardware, software and services for scalable computation, data management and visualization. It features flexible platforms, a wide range of open source and commercial middleware, and the latest in industry-standard technology-all with the simplicity and affordability of a factory-built, tested, and supported solution.

The Unified Cluster Portfolio is the first solution in the industry to provide a common implementation across multiple operating systems (Microsoft Windows® and Linux) and servers based on industry-standard processors (Intel® Xeon™ and AMD Opteron™) and through participation with partners and the open source community.

Reference Stacks provide complete solutions

» HP Cluster Platforms: Flexible configurations from 5 to 1024 nodes, with choice of interconnects:

  • HP Cluster Platform Express: Ready-to-go solutions with up to 96 compute nodes (with double dense Blades, or 32 1U servers)
  • HP Cluster Platform 3000: featuring multi-core Intel Xeon 5600 series processor-based servers , and the multi-node ProLiant DL2000
  • HP Cluster Platform 3000BL: ProLiant BL2x220c, BL280c, BL460c and BL480c Server Blades as compute nodes
  • HP Cluster Platform 4000: 8, 12 or 16 core AMD Opteron-based servers
  • HP Cluster Platform 4000BL: Featuring ProLiant BL465c server blades as compute nodes
  • HP Cluster Platform 3000SL and 4000SL: Featuring ‘skinless’ ProLiant SL series designed for scale-out

» Operating environments: Tested and supported on HP Cluster Platforms, optional operating systems include Linux, and Microsoft Windows 2008 (on HP Cluster Platform 3000 and 4000). HP-MPI is available on all operating systems, and provides an ISV-endorsed cross-interconnect MPI library for parallel applications. HP-MPI is also available in our specially priced bundle, HP HPC Linux Value Pack, which also includes Platform LSF and HP SHMEM.

» Cluster management: Comprehensive cluster management solutions from HP and its partners, are available installed and ready for deployment. HP Cluster Management Utility CMU enables cluster provisioning, management and monitoring, supported by HP across multiple Linux distributions. In addition, alternative cluster tools can be deployed on Cluster Platforms, such as Platform HPC Workgroup Edition (for clusters with up to 32 nodes).

» Scalable Data Management: Increases in computational capabilities create larger volumes of data that need to be managed.

» Advanced options such as visualization and accelerators: High performance scientific and engineering applications generate very large data sets that need to be visualized, often interactively with computational jobs. Accelerate computation with GPGPUs and FPGA options.

» HPC application, development and grid software portfolio: The HP Unified Cluster Portfolio provides a solid, reference platform for developing and deploying applications. With its partners, HP offers a complete software development environment for all three available operating systems. HP supports leading applications for all key HPC industry segments, and works closely with its partners and the open source community to ensure the availability of those solutions on our industry-standard HP Cluster Platforms.

» HPC Cluster Services: HP has experience servicing systems, networks, clusters, storage devices, and software for HPC deployments and environments of all sizes. A wide range of service solutions built from standards-based service modules ensure the service coverage and the level of expert assistance desired.
