HP Services

Experienced and highly trained service can mean the difference between success and failure in an HPC deployment. HP’s 69,000 skilled professionals deliver a comprehensive range of services to help design, deploy, manage and support your HPC environment and processes, including consulting, integration, outsourcing and support.

HP’s expert end-to-end HPC services provide a single point of accountability, ensuring a simple, successful implementation. Starting with planning, continuing through migration and transition, and ending with ongoing maintenance and optimization, HP’s service and support is easy to manage and use.

HP’s Consulting and Integration Services provide a complete portfolio of services tailored to unique business and HPC needs.  HP provides senior-level expertise in systems integration and administration, applications migration and optimization, systems architecture, customer education, as well as implementation program management.

Consultant’s expertise in HP solutions including Linux compute clusters, HP 9000 Superdome platforms, Grid computing solutions, and significant knowledge with the Linux and HP-UX operating systems is critical for knowledge transfer to customer staff resulting in lower total cost of ownership.

Consultants have domain expertise in algorithms and numerical methods of HPC applications including climate modeling, computational chemistry and materials science, CFD, computational structural mechanics, financial modeling, forces modeling and simulation/C4I, geographic information systems, life sciences (including Bioinformatics), reservoir modeling and seismic analysis, signal and image processing and simulation- based design, virtual prototyping, and virtual manufacturing.

HP offers customer training on systems administration of Linux, HP-UX, and Tru64 UNIX clusters. Similar training is provided for applications migration, development, and optimization.

Utility Computing: HP Flexible Computing Services

HPC managers are continually trying to improve the scalability and performance of their systems to meet peak activity levels, build in greater agility to respond to change and enhance services for users – and to do all of this at the lowest possible cost to get the most value. Utility computing, which allows organizations to rent the processing power as needed, is a simple and effective solution for project-oriented engineering and research teams that have critical time, space, power and capital constraints. Utility computing also enables smaller organizations to access capabilities far beyond what their budgets would normally allow.

HP Flexible Computing Services bring together industry-leading infrastructure components and application-vendor solutions to provide organizations with secure, reliable, and scalable utility computing resources for HPC. With a pay-as-you-go, usage-based solution, HPC professionals can ‘scale up’ on processing power when and where required. The cost-per-unit pricing of HP Flexible Computing Services is ideal for customers with compute-intensive jobs that can outstrip the capacity found even in well-equipped HPC environments.

HP’s Application Provisioning Service (APS) for CAE is an industry first that offers customers a complete application utility service. HP CAE partners in this program include Abaqus, Fluent, LSTC, and MSC.Software. These partners provide CAE software on the utility infrastructure, enabling customers to access and pay for the hardware, operating system, and application software on a flexible payment basis.
