Q1. What is the HP & Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 Software “Give-Me-Five” Promotion all about?
A1. HP is making it easy for our customers to experience the power of High Performance Computing on a Windows Platform. Now through June 30, 2008, HP is including five Windows CCS OEM License kits in all Intel Xeon-based HP Cluster Platform(CP) 3000/3000BL and AMD Opteron-based HP Cluster Platform 4000/4000BL cluster shipments, worldwide, at no additional cost or charge to our customers.
And more…., Through June 30, 2008, HP is offering the Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server OEM License kits for $.01 each, when ordered, one for one, with HP ProLiant servers, contained on the same purchase order. The total number of Microsoft Windows CCS Licenses ordered must not exceed total number of servers on each purchase order. You may use the server software only for running clustered HPC applications. Quantity limitations and other restrictions may apply.

Q2. What is contained in HP’s OEM Windows Compute Cluster Server License kit?
A2. The HP Windows CCS OEM Kit consists of 4 CD’s
- Microsoft Windows Server® 2003, Compute Cluster Edition (operating system)
- Microsoft Compute Cluster Pack (cluster software)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (service pack update)
- HP Supplement to Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 (HP documentation, enhancements, and utilities.)

Q3. Where do I find instruction on how to install Windows CCS?
A3. The installation instructions can be found on the "HP Supplement for Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003" CD. This CD will automatically bring up a menu to navigate to the "HP Factory-Installed Operating System Software for Microsoft® Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 User Guide", or you can directly use the file from the CD (433909.pdf). Use the instructions in the section "Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 installed from CD" starting on page 18.

Q5. I’m ordering a 32 node cluster with HP’s XC cluster management software preloaded at the HP factory. Do I get the five promotional Windows CCS Licenses included in my shipment, also?
A5. Yes. During the promotion period, the Windows CCS licenses are included as part of the CP3000, CP4000, CP3000BL, CP4000BL, CPE3000, CPE4000 shipment. Purchase of the appropriate CP documentation kit is required.

Q6. I have an existing HP cluster and would like to take advantage of this promotion.
A6. This promotion is for HP's ProLiant-based clusters purchased between Sept 24th 2007 and June 30th 2008. In addition, Microsoft offers a free 180-day Windows CCS trial software on their Microsoft HPC web site

Q7. Are there any restrictions of which I should be aware?
A7. Yes. The Windows CCS software, from HP, may only be installed on HP ProLiant servers. The Windows CCS Licenses are nontransferable and cannot be resold. All use of this complimentary Windows software is subject to your compliance with the accompanying license and support terms. You may use the server software only for running clustered HPC applications. Other restrictions may apply.
