InfiniBand-based interconnect
InfiniBand provides ultra high bandwidth and low latency, and is ideal for
cluster computing, low latency messaging systems, scalable clustered database
and data warehouse applications
HP supports 40Gbps (4X QDR) InfiniBand products that include Host Channel
Adapters (HCA), switches, software, and cables for HP ProLiant servers, HP
Integrity servers, and the HP BladeSystem c-Class. InfiniBand interconnect is
part of the HP Unified Cluster Portfolio and can be selected as an option for
the HP Cluster Platform, HP Cluster Platform Express, and HP Cluster Platform
Workgroup System.
HP supports InfiniBand products from Voltaire, Mellanox, and QLogic.

Voltaire’s family of InfiniBand and 10GbE fabric switches, advanced management and application acceleration software improves the performance of business-critical applications, increases efficiency and reduces costs. Voltaire’s Grid Director™ InfiniBand switches support advanced routing engine and management features. Users can also enhance the performance of the switches with Voltaire’s expansive suite of management and acceleration software, including Unified Fabric Manager™ (UFM™) software, which automatically discovers, virtualizes, monitors and optimizes the fabric infrastructure and accelerates the active applications. Ethernet-based interconnect
With the growing trend of scale-out computing, virtualization and cloud computing, the data center network is currently undergoing a change from a hierarchy of silo network switches to a large flat layer 2 (VLL2) fabric. Voltaire Vantage™ 8500 is the latest addition to the HP Unified Cluster Portfolio that provides customers the flexibility and choice to build a large scale 10 Gigabit Ethernet fabric that is optimized for performance, efficiency and scalability they need to get the utmost value out of their scale-out and virtualized environments. Voltaire Vantage™ 8500 is high port count layer 2 switch with up to 288 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports in a single switch chassis. It is based on CEE standards and supports a converged, high-density, low latency, low power, lossless and virtualized data center fabric. Multiple switches can be clustered to form large, linearly scaling Layer 2 fabrics. The solution also encompasses fabric management software that controls all the physical and virtual switches and I/O devices in the fabric for central fabric monitoring and management. HP supports Voltaire Vantage™ 8500 switch through its resell agreement with Voltaire.
